Reason IV: Toney Wroten is a veteran version of Markelle Fultz. Both Washington Huskies versatile enough to play either guard role.
Markelle Fultz is a 19 year-old basketball star in the making. Two years ago, 19 year-old Jahlil Okafor arrived to the Philadelphia 76ers with plenty of talent and upside as well. But Okafor was young and frustrated, and he found distractions too challenging to ignore. While Markelle Fultz’s situation is entirely different, it would not be too foolish to place a guiding hand on the roster to help mentor the young man.

Wroten is a former Washington Husky who has similar skillsets. He is a hybrid guard who can play both backcourt roles. He learned under former coach Lorenzo Romar, and he made the transition to the NBA via learning through bumps and bruises.
UW Huskies run in packs
Now he can pay it forward to a fellow UW alum. The Philadelphia Eagles have Sidney Jones IV and Elijah Qualls, both from the University of Washington.
Adding Wroten gives Fultz a natural mentor. Wroten loves Philadelphia, the passion and the intelligence of her fans. He can share that love with Markelle Fultz this season, helping the young man to remain focused while he learns the game.
The city of Philadelphia loves sports and athletes. But the city can be a distraction as well. Wroten knows the NBA and Philadelphia. Place him on the roster, and he’ll do the rest.
