The Philadelphia 76ers have a new-look uniform that definitely feels Philly.
As Nike continues to take over the NBA uniform scene, many teams have began releasing their jerseys for this upcoming season — many of which are stylistically different. The Philadelphia 76ers took a stab at it early Tuesday morning, with a video featuring Markelle Fultz and one of what will end up being four different Sixers jerseys.

When Nike announced their plans for uniforms moving forward, one of their ideas centered around Icon and Association additions — which speak to both the history of each franchise and their identity as a franchise. This jersey has an old-fashioned feel, yet gives this up-and-coming Sixers team a looked that still feels new and fresh. On top of that, the ‘Brotherly Love’ stitching pays homage to not only the city’s most famous slogan, but also speaks to the culture that has always made Philly such a unique place — both for sports fans and the town in general.
This is also our best look yet at the Sixers’ new advertisement. The team paired with StubHub last season, which is part of the league’s newest initiative in the advertising field. The ad has a prominent spot in the design, and is something that will likely draw some extended backlash early on in the campaign.
The new Nike designs are meant to upgrade everything we’ve seen over the past several seasons. They’re lighter, with more freedom of motion in both the upper and lower body. They’re reminiscent in many ways of collegiate jerseys, which we’ve seen teams like Duke, Ohio State and Oregon innovating for quite some time.

The Sixers aren’t reinventing the wheel here, as the jersey design as a whole boasts many similarities to threads they’ve worn both throughout history and recently. But there is a new twist, and that’s in part what this new era of NBA jerseys is supposed to bring. It’s about changing our perception of uniform performance and the tradition behind them, and uniforms like these speak to that change.
