Long-term relationship

It was not his success, but his strategy. Sam Hinkie did not build a team to win today. But the fans understood the task at hand when Hinkie was hired. He was given a terrible hand to play as an NBA executive. So they did what no other fanbase in the history of the NBA could ever think to do: The Philadelphia 76ers fans applauded and loved Sam Hinkie for committing to win in the future.

28 wins is not enough to ignite interest in the Philadelphia 76ers methods. But 45 + wins will certainly do so. And that means both good news and bad news for Philadelphia 76ers fans.  How so?

Well, I’m a bit of a future-gazer myself. Much like Sam Hinkie, today is less interesting then tomorrow.  Hinkie’s Manifesto, which so many ridiculed, was one of the best NBA strategy papers every written.

So let me explain what’s coming down the pike.
