Philadelphia is not unique in bad NBA team management

If a team can find enough resolve, “TrustTheProcess” can happen anywhere in the NBA.   On that day another team hires Sam Hinkie, Sixers fans will be torn. Sam Hinkie is the architect. He designed the plans of these Philadelphia 76ers. Now, everyone in the organization is simply building the team to those specifications.

But can the fans handle another NBA team building a championship team by the same architect?   I’m truly unsure.  The track record is that it takes time to turn a crumbling NBA team back into a solid foundation. That is certainly okay by me, and likely by other 76ers fans.

Hinkie’s return is inevitable

But eventually, a Hinkie built team may be just as dangerous as we believe this Philadelphia 76ers team to be.   Eventually, teams selected by Hinkie to play for the Philadelphia 76ers may wish to reunite with the former general manager.

In the end, there will be quite a mixed bag of emotions over Hinkie’s hire to another NBA team.  On one hand, he was courageous enough to challenge NBA assumptions about turnarounds. So far, he appears to be correct.

On the other hand, Hinkie on any other team will be like a first love marrying someone else.  It’s easy to love the guy as long as he is unemployed and still sitting in the bleachers. Will we be able to cheer the man if he is running another NBA team.

That day is coming.  And it will be then, and only then, where we will truly now just how much we do #TrustTheProcess.
