Simmons leads on the court, but…

The role for Ben Simmons is field general, point player, distributor, facilitator. He is the person who makes things happen. And so far, he is delivering better than the brochure in the gym.

Sure, it’s just the gym. But it’s not like we’re talking a pickup game at the local YMCA. This is the Philadelphia 76ers gymnasium, and the audience includes Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown.

So when Brown touts Simmons, he does so knowing what he has in the rookie.  Right now, he believes he has a player who can be a difference maker in the NBA.

Still, Simmons is a rookie with much to learn. And he will. In the meantime, the team must form around him as he does so. How well can Simmons involve the other stars of the team, all the while learning the NBA on the fly?  Well, the head coach seems to think he has all the makings of a great NBA player.
