Why would Philadelphia Eagles great Brian Dawkins speak to the Philadelphia 76ers? Why, he is city’s the ambassador of “Quan”

The Philadelphia 76ers of yesterday, today, and tomorrow, play for a very passionate city. Passion is both positive and negative.  The passion of Philadelphia can turn on a player who is not “into” the game.  If a player makes too many excuses, makes too little effort, or is caught on video not making a player, that passion can cut like a power saw.

But there is another version of passion.

Philly passion

On one hand, few cities will find fans patient enough to endure multiple years of deep losses in hopes of an ultimate rebuild to a championship. Philadelphia did.  On the other hand, few fan bases will travel thousands of miles to create a home field feeling on the opposite shore. Philadelphia fans will.

And so, when head coach Brett Brown wanted to inspire his players, he called upon the one player who knows Philadelphia, played for Philadelphia, loved Philadelphia, and is loved by Philadelphia: Brian Dawkins.

Philadelphia loves Brian Dawkins.  And Brian Dawkins loves Philadelphia
