The Dawkins story

Brian Dawkins is the embodiment of the passion of Philadelphia. On one hand, he fed off it, converted it into energy, and then gave love back to the fans in the stands. On the other hand, he is rare for an athlete, and even rarer for an elite football player. Ultimately, he never lost sight of the little guy in the stands, the person who may have invested half a week’s paycheck just to see him play. He brought it in each game.

Dawkins chat

And Brian Dawkins stopped by to talk with the Philadelphia 76ers.  And then he stopped by to chat with Philadelphia 76ers writer Brian Seltzer.

He has so much to say, but the main theme covers two points. The Philadelphia 76ers team has an incredible opportunity to find success this season. It’s a rare opportunity. He spoke from the heart, encouraging each player to accept the responsibility the city has placed upon their shoulders.

He then talked about building a team.  Through adversity, through competition, working together and building relationships that will carry these players past basketball and through their careers. A forging of individuals into a team.  A team, not individuals, is needed to win in this NBA.
