Head Coach Brett Brown: master strategist

Even before the season, head coach Brett Brown is a master strategist.  On one hand, he knows that the team is a conglomeration of new and old players, and that there is a lack of shared history.  Many of the players expected to deliver this year were not on the team three years ago. On the other hand, without common experience, Brown knows he must find a substitute.

Common goals.

Introducing Dawkins as a guest speaker the day before the preseason begins for the Sixers is a stroke of genius.  As much as the team is led by Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, few have any real experience with a professional sports team in the city of Philadelphia. And none on this team know what it means to win for the city.

Quan

That message has been delivered loud and clear by the Philadelphia ambassador of “Quan” Brian Dawkins.  Quan for each player. From each player to every other teammate. Team to the fans.

And there you have it. Quan is a movie term describing the love of the city for her athletes. Allen Iverson, Brian Dawkins, “Doctor J” Julius Erving all played for the city, and have the love of fans for a lifetime.  Quan is the respect, the admiration, the emotions which outpour from the fans to their athletes.

The Philadelphia 76ers are about to take a very fast-paced journey through an NBA season. If our expectations are correct, the playoffs wait for this team on the other side.  This is a new journey for most of the players on the roster.  And when you travel to new places, you need a guide.

Brian Dawkins spoke to the Philadelphia 76ers today. As of now, he is their guide to the playoffs.
