Philadelphia 76ers fans had to submerge their pride and passion for years as the team cycled through players, picks, and payroll to accumulate NBA currency. This year, the team converts from saver to spender. Can The Process deliver?

Today marks the moment of truth. Or rather, the season of truth for the Philadelphia 76ers. Is it do or die tonight? Not likely. But the season is an entirely different matter. After years of austerity, accumulating draft picks, slashing payroll and absorbing bad contracts for the premium of future draft pick, this year marked a complete strategy shift.

The Philadelphia 76ers just maxed out center Joel Embiid. The team SOLD two second round draft picks.  And the team paid for significant free agents in the form of J.J. Redick and Amir Johnson. And finally, the team is debuting two top-picks from consecutive NBA drafts simultaneously. That is an NBA first.

Winds of change

So there is a change in the direction of the wind in Philadelphia this year. And the change is not on the basketball court yet. The change is simply in the way the front office is directing the team, deciding on payroll, picks, and players.  Does that mean The Process delivers this year?

You bet your sweet bippy it does!
