11. Lonnie Walker, SG, Miami
Lonnie Walker will likely be sitting behind Bruce Brown this season, but he offers sky-high potential. In his first preseason game against Newberry, Walker had a solid game, he put up eight points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. As Walker gets the rust off after returning from a torn meniscus in his right knee suffered in July of this year, he should soon start lighting it up.
Where Walker lacks in size, 6-foot-4, for a shooting guard, he makes up for with his elite level athleticism. Walker is strong at finishing at the rim, as he is very physical and crafty around the rim. Also, Walker doesn’t shy away from contact in the paint, this is encouraging as his game is centered around driving to the hoop.
Conversely, Walker still needs to shore up his handles. He can be a little reckless at times, leading to silly turnovers. Additionally, Walker’s shot isn’t fantastic, it’s okay, but he can still work on it before the draft in July. NBA teams will be attractive to Walker due to his athleticism and high ceiling.
