25. Andrew Jones, PG, Texas
With Jarrett Allen leaving and Mohamed Bamba taking his role, the Texas Longhorns may be in for an exciting season. The success of the Longhorns weighs on the shoulder of sophomore combo-guard, Andrew Jones. After an exciting freshman camping, Jones will be looking to take his game to the next level, whilst leading Texas to the National Championship.
Last season for the Longhorns, Jones averaged an encouraging 11.4 points per game as well as 3.5 assists per game. Jones’ combo guard potential was in full effect last season. When playing the point, Jones is a mismatch nightmare with his 6-foot-7 wingspan.
Following on from this, Jones proved to be a solid rebounder (3.9 per game) for someone of his size. Moreover, Jones was able to steal the ball an average of 1.2 times per game in 28 minutes per game. Given how Jones can fill up the stat sheet, he’s one of the top candidates for breakout out player of the year.
Jones, however, could work on limiting his turnovers, he averaged 2.5 per game last season. Also, Jones’ three-point shot was a little shaky at times throughout the season. The guard only shot 32.8 percent from behind the arc last season. Since Jones is a ‘tweener’, he may struggle to find a role in the NBA. Players like Lou Williams has never been able to be a huge difference maker since he isn’t built for a specific position, similarly to Jones.
This season will be huge for Jones, he is in a great position to boost his draft stock.
