Walker is off to a slow start this season, struggling from the field and not making much of an impact in the minutes he’s been given. He still has plenty of time to turn it around, though, and has all the basic tools you want in a mid-first round guard prospect.
At 6-foot-4, Walker’s 6-foot-11 wingspan gives him the ever-necessary luxury of guarding multiple positions. He’s also a solid shooter, despite hisearly struggles. If nothing else, his floor as a 3-and-D prospect in enough to draw NBA teams in.
The Knicks are set in the frontcourt for the time being, which allows them to invest in another long-term piece in the backcourt. Frank Ntilikina and Walker could be a nice two-man combo in a few years.
