Furkan Korkmaz injury complicates Philadelphia 76ers off-season

2018 NBA Draft decisions
While the Philadelphia 76ers are currently looking at a six-pack of draft picks in the 2018 NBA Draft, there is some question at to which position will be emphasized in the draft. After all, two first round picks and four second round picks are a solid haul. But what will the Philadelphia 76ers do with six new prospects on top of three international players currently aiming to join the team in 2018? Now add the additional weight of a rookie player who will be returning to the team next season, and you see how this quickly becomes a conundrum.
Winds of change are afoot…
So what is the change of strategy? Well, the team will likely be very open to trade or sale of second round draft picks once more, despite early round picks at 40 and 41. And that could also change the team’s priority with the Lakers first round lottery pick as well. If the team does not re-sign Redick, the injury to Korkmaz will make the wing position a priority in the 2018 NBA Draft. With the team set at center and point player, the roster will need to elevate the quality of perimeter shooting.

In the end, the front office of the Philadelphia 76ers will be putting in extra hours to sort out the aftermath of Furkan Korkmaz’s foot injury. Many questions – expecting answers through the course of this season – will now remain unanswered. And so, the team must now adjust to what the season will give them once more. It may mean nothing. Or it could make a huge difference. But whichever future plays out, keep this event in mind. It will have repercussions for years to come.
