The sophomore season for Tyus Battle has been fun to watch. After a decent freshman campaign, nobody could have expected this kind of jump from Battle. Battle’s freshman season saw him produce 11.3 points per game and 1.7 assists per game.
This season, however, Battle is putting up 21.5 points per game and 1.5 assists per game, whilst shooting 37.7 percent from three. Battle has been the much-needed force to lead the Syracuse Oranges to a hot 9-1 start to the season.
Given the fact that the Atlanta Hawks are in the midst of a rebuild, Battle should be given the freedom to score at will — similarly to Donovan Mitchell for the Utah Jazz. If paired with Dennis Schroeder, the pair could form a formidable duo.
