5 New Years resolutions for 2018 Philadelphia 76ers
By Bret Stuter
Last season was a tale of two teams. A team oft scoffed at roared to life at the beginning of the new year. If that trajectory holds true this season, how good will this team become? Here are five New Years Resolutions for the 2018 Philadelphia 76ers
The 2016 segment of the Philadelphia 76ers last season ended at 8-24. While that actually was a better pace than the previous seasons, it hardly was enough to spark either interest or optimism. Philadelphia 76ers fans, long patient with a tomorrow which never seemed to arrive, had nothing to rally around.
Until the new year.
The same lackluster Philadelphia 76ers ran January 2017 at a 10-5 pace, and that set the optimism ablaze. That hot pace was more than center Joel Embiid. Reserve point guard T.J. McConnell acted as a catalyst. Robert Covington became very active on the boards. Joel Embiid remained hot, but Jahlil Okafor found his scoring rhythm once more. It was a series of players and events which heated up altogether.
Which pieces of this Philadelphia 76ers team will act in a similar fashion in this season? It’s an annual tradition to create “New Year’s Resolutions”. Now most of those are void after the first week in the new year. But what if we set “New Year’s Resolutions” for our beloved Philadelphia 76ers team?
Let’s think about this for a minute… What might they be?
