player. 93. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Duke. Wendell Carter Jr.. 13. PF/C

Carter checks all the boxes you’d want in a backup for Joel Embiid. He’s a skilled scorer in the post, boasts underrated passing instincts, and has flashed range out to the 3-point line. There are still some concerns surrounding his production at Duke, but nothing that will keep him out of the lottery discussion.

Part of Carter’s issue is the talent he’s playing with. Duke starts five five-star recruits, so Carter often gets lost in the fold. He has shown some shortcomings on defense, but the Blue Devils struggle to defend as a whole. With NBA coaching, his strong frame and length should make him a plus defender down the road.

If the Sixers do get two lottery picks, this is an excellent opportunity to fill some of their biggest rotational holes moving forward. Young and Carter certainly do so.
