1. Luka Doncic, PG/SG, Real Madrid
While Ayton has made a convincing case, Doncic maintains his grasp on the No. 1 spot. Against the best competition in the world outside of the NBA, the 18-year-old has been putting up consistently great numbers. He’s arguably the best European prospect of all-time.
At 6-8, Doncic is able to make up for his lackluster athleticism with an extremely high basketball I.Q. He’s clearly a skilled passer, while his herky-jerky ball handling allows him to create space and get off shots in isolation. He’s also a crafty scorer around the paint, using his solid frame to absorb conact and finish with touch.
Where Doncic stands defensively is questionable, but his size and smarts should allow him to find some success on that end. He already has the highest floor in this class, but couples that with elite-level skill and plenty of upside as a go-to playmaker.
Just because he’s not on your T.V. every weekend doesn’t mean Doncic isn’t one of the best prospects in recent memory.
