NCAA Tournament: Top 5 NBA prospects from East Region
By Tyler King
Carsen Edwards, SG, Purdue
Despite winning 17-straight games during the regular season, many experts don’t think Purdue is capable of making a deep run in the tournament.
The Boilermakers made it to the championship game of the Big Ten Tournament, and the catalyst for the team is sophomore guard Carsen Edwards.
Edwards has taken a major step forward scoring the ball this season and has become the team’s go-to player late in games.
He is averaging over 18 points per game, but he is capable of putting up big numbers thanks to his smooth shooting stroke and his ability to get to the free throw line.
Edwards is probably better suited returning to West Lafayette for another season before declaring for the NBA Draft. He will likely enter as one of the favorites to win Big Ten Player of the Year and will have full control of his team.
He is a fun player to watch and has a quick release that allows him to score well off ball screens.
Next, we’ll wrap up this region with another underrated sophomore guard.
