At this point, Ayton and Doncic have locked themselves into the top two. While not the same athlete as some of his lottery counterparts, Doncic has produced at a historically high level against far better competition. It’s rare for an 18-year-old (recently turned 19) to be among the best players in Europe.
At 6-8, Doncic has the size needed to play three or four positions and the skills of a natural point guard. He’s on the same plane as Lonzo Ball and Ben Simmons when it comes to vision and passing players open.
His three-point shot hasn’t been wildly consistent, but the mechanics are worth buying into. He has arguably the highest floor in this class and should be able to contribute to an NBA team (especially the Suns) from day one.
