Melton was one of several casualties resulting from the FBI investigation that shook college basketball to its core. After a promising freshman year that moved Melton into the first round discussion, he was sidelined for his entire sophomore campaign while USC fumbled away a potential tournament berth.

Even without playing his sophomore season, Melton should still draw first round looks. At 6-4 with a 6-9 wingspan, his length and aggression makes him an impact defender both on and off the ball. He’ll need to improve his jumper (just 28.4 percent from deep last season), but that’s something he’s capable of doing.

The Hawks might not keep all of their picks, but Melton feels like a worthwhile investment should they do so.
