The Philadelphia 76ers extended their win streak to 11 games by defeating the Brooklyn Nets 121-95.  Eight different players scored in double figures.

The Philadelphia 76ers extended their win streak to 11 games with a 121-95 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Philly matched their longest winning streak since the 1989-1990 season.

Eight 76ers scored in double figures, led by J.J. Redick scoring 19 points on 8-15 shooting in 23 minutes. Coach Brown also credited Redick with reminding the young 76ers that Detroit was home waiting for them.

Philly plays Detroit in Detroit tomorrow night in the second game of a back-to-back. Philadelphia was able to play nine players over 20 minutes, so they should  be fresh for Detroit tomorrow night.

Philadelphia as a team have bought into sharing the ball and assisting on baskets. Besides Redick, seven other Sixers scored in double figures including Marco Belinelli (17), Ben Simmons (15 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists), Robert Covington (12), Ersan Ilyasova (11 points and 13 rebounds), Richaun Holmes (11), Markelle Fultz (10) and T.J. McConnell (10).

STAT GEEKS

The Sixers put the game out of reach in the third quarter by outscoring the Nets by ten points to lead 72-50. Philly shot 54 percent for the game (50-92) and 43 percent from three (9-21). Philadelphia had 28 assists to only ten turnovers. Philly also had 10 steals and 10 blocks. The Nets took 27 three-point attempts in the first half alone, shooting 44 percent (12-27).

MARKELLE FULTZ WATCH

The Markelle Fultz stat line was 20 minutes played, 10 points on 5-8 shooting, two rebounds, three assists and one turnover. Fultz showed his athleticism by finishing strong at the basket, making passes in tight quarters and even showing a left-handed step around shot in the lane.

The only concern was pushing his lone free throw attempt, but hopefully that is just an anomaly. His jump shot looked fine and each game he becomes more offensively aggressive and his defense is better than expected. .

REF REPORT

It’s hard to be critical in this type of game, but could one ref please call a moving screen on Jarrett Allen just once?  Allen sets more illegal screens than Al Horford, which is saying something.

GM UPDATE

The former Philly players had nice games with Nik Stauskas scoring 13 points (5-11) and Jahlil Okafor scoring 16 points and grabbing five rebounds in only 16 minutes.

With the emergence of Fultz, fans are now seeing what Philadelphia management envisioned when moving up to draft him. Fultz potentially could turn out to be the classic combo guard in the mold of a Chauncey Billups.  Philly is now set at the point guard position for the next 10 years. There is no need to overpay T.J. McConnell to play as a third point guard or backup shooting guard.

HEAD SCRATCHERS

What happened to Spencer Dinwiddie? He was a 76ers killer early in the season and now doesn’t even look good coming off the Nets’ bench.

Does anyone think that Joe Harris of the Nets looks like Nic Vucevic of Orlando? Analytics geeks help: When Brett Brown says that Markelle Fultz is trending upward, does that mean he likes his play?  What ever happened to just saying he’s playing well?

Next: Can the Sixers give Philly another championship?

Speaking of Brett Brown, he must being reading The Sixer Sense. I suggested that Coach Brown should give up the suit with no tie look and the very next game he’s wearing a nice tie with his shirt  buttoned up to the top, no less.
