Do 76ers need LeBron?

The difference between need and want is confusing to many. Need mean an integral part, a necessary component whose absence eliminates the possibility of achieving the goal. The Philadelphia 76ers can win an NBA championship without LeBron.  It may take more time, and it may take some more trial and error. But the pieces to win down the road are there.

But adding LeBron does infuse credibility to the Philadelphia 76ers which would not happen otherwise. NBA awards and recognition would come easier. Accolades and national attention would skyrocket. After all, if the arguably-best-player-in-the-NBA chooses Philadelphia, who could stand against them?

If Skip says yes, something is wrong with it

But a Skip Bayless endorsement sours the entire matter. Now, it’s not about “what could go right?” with signing LeBron, but “what could go wrong?” if the Philadelphia 76ers do that very thing.  I was in favor of any NBA rumors linking LeBron to Philly before this. Now that Skip Bayless is an advocate, I’m not so sure.  This guy prefers Dak Prescott to Carson Wentz. He loves the Dallas Cowboys. In short, his track record is horrendous. And he is no fan of anything from Philadelphia.

LeBron brings an arsenal of skillsets to whichever team he plays for. Shots, passion, energy, excellence, defense, he is the complete NBA player. But for now, he plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They hold the 3-seed in the NBA Playoffs, and the Philadlephia 76ers desperately want that 3-seed. To get it, this team must get past the Cavs.
