Path to NBA Championship just got easier

The Boston Celtics are the 2-seed of the NBA Playoffs.  And they just got bad news. In fact, the type of new no team want so hear about their star player.

So that 3-seed path to the NBA Championship game just became far easier. And that means the Philadelphia 76ers in the 3-seed have a viable path all the way to the top. In a period of time which finds the Philadelphia Eagles and Villanova Wildcats winning national titles, the Philadelphia 76ers would love to bring one more to Philly.  And in doing so, does the team even need to entertain free agents?

Yes and yes

This Philadelphia 76ers team is improving rapidly and will continue to do so for some time. But the rest of the NBA won’t sit idly by and watch it happen. The Bryan Colangelo Toronto Raptors played incredibly well for him when he arrived. But the rest of the NBA caught up and passed those Raptors by. Sitting idle allows other teams to do that.

Next: J.J. Redick showing why he should stick around long term

The Philadelphia 76ers must continue to improve, and to do so must be wise and successful in free agency. Perhaps LeBron is “that guy”. But it’s hard to argue the team has better than Marco Belinelli, Ersan Ilyasova, and J.J. Redick next season, particularly if this team finds success in post-season.  I hate to say it, but if Bayless is for LeBron to Philly, I have to reexamine that. Anything Skip Bayless says is automatically opposed. And for good reason. He sells controversy. Philadelphia is aiming at championships.
