The Pacers don’t have any glaring holes in their roster, so adding another 3-and-D wing to the mix makes sense. Evans was a key defensive cog for a Bearcats team that grabbed the two-seed on the strength of their defense.
Evans also added a lot to his offensive game last season, scoring relatively well off the dribble while shooting a career-high 38 percent from deep. He’s the kind of do-it-all role player that NBA teams crave late in the first round.
Indiana should be in the playoffs again next season, but Evans can carve out playing time on a competitive team in year one.
