Shamet makes a lot of sense for a Golden State team that’s looking to win the title. He’s another ball handler who plays hard defender and boasts an incredible basketball I.Q., something that should allow him to contribute right away.
It’s tough for rookies to get consistent playing time with the Warriors, but both Patrick McCaw and Jordan Bell have shown that carving out a role is possible. Shamet can work on and off the ball, while his willingness to move the ball fits right into Steve Kerr‘s system.
This could be the kind of pick that teams above Golden State end up regretting, just like Bell last season.
