A flurry of production in the SEC and NCAA tournaments led some to dub Sexton the best point guard in this year’s class. That’s just not the case; in fact, I might be taking a bit of a gamble in placing him 12th.
Nonetheless, the potential is certainly there. Sexton’s strong frame and explosive athleticism makes him a dangerous scorer, especially in transition. He has the ability to get hot and carry an offense, something that can’t be said for many players in this class.
His defensive hustle, while there is spurts, wasn’t an impressive as many hoped coming into the season. His competitiveness on that side of the ball should shine through at the next level, though. He also needs to work on his passing, which was a relative weakness compared to other lead guards.
