Long term, Utah is best with Donovan Mitchell as the primary playmaker. Thomas fits the mold of what you want next to the presumptive Rookie of the Year runner-up — a knockdown shooter who can put the ball on the floor and make smart passes when needed.

At only 6-3, Thomas is a bit undersized for a two-guard. He makes up for that with long arms, though, something he uses to his advantage on the defensive end. Whether it be locking down the point of attack or disrupting passing lanes, Thomas was one of the best perimeter defenders in college basketball.

Ricky Rubio has been effective all season, but he’s not the Jazz’s long-term solution next to Mitchell. Thomas, on the other hand, checks all the right boxes.
