Nov. 16 vs. Lakers — Joel Embiid’s career-high 46 points

With how long the NBA season is, it’s easy to forget the first two months of the season. But the first matchup of the season between the Sixers and Lakers (and first matchup between Ben Simmons and Lonzo Ball) was a wild one in Los Angeles.

Joel Embiid was unstoppable that night, scoring a career-high 46 points on just 20 shots in the Sixers’ 115-109 victory.

The 7-2 center was 14-20 from the floor and was even more efficient from the free throw line, making 16-19 shots at charity stripe. But he was also a monster on the defensive end, grabbing 13 of his 15 rebounds on that end of the floor and registering seven blocks.

Embiid was just about the only offense the Sixers had in that game, but it was enough. Only three other Sixers were able to reach double figures with Ben Simmons finishing second on the team in scoring that night with 18 points. Simmons also came up just one rebound short of a triple-double in the wild, nationally televised contest.
