Wing depth is an issue for New York, but they seem to be in the market for another point guard as well. Frank Ntilikina’s best fit is as a secondary ball handler, which would explain the Knicks’ infatuation with Trae Young. If he isn’t on the board, though, Sexton is probably the next man up.
I have my reservations about Sexton as a prospect. He doesn’t create much for others, which is concerning as a lead guard. His shooting isn’t too consistent either, which leads me to question whether or not he can efficiently carry the mantle of go-to scorer for an NBA team.
Still, he’s an explosive athlete who’s tough to stop going downhill. He also had moments last season where he single-handedly carried Alabama to wins behind impressive displays of shot-making. His defensive intensity didn’t live up to the hype, but he’s a lockdown defender when he wants to be.
