Huerter has helped his stock tremendously at the combine. There are still rumblings about him returning to school, but the first round — perhaps even the top-20 — feels like a lock if he hires an agent and stays in the draft.
The Spurs would be a nice fit. While not an elite athlete, Huerter is a silky shooter with nice instincts as a passer. His ability to play within the offense and space the floor is something Gregg Popovich can maximize.
He also competes hard on the defensive end, although additional strength is needed. Many projected him as a 2019 first round pick during the season, but it looks as though he’ll come off the board a year earlier than expected.
