There’s no good reason for Doncic to slide to fourth, but it feels like a legitimate possibility. That would give Memphis an opportunity to draft someone capable of carrying the franchise after the Marc Gasol/Mike Conley era comes to an end.

Despite lacking elite athleticism, Doncic is a crafty playmaker who can lead an NBA offense from day one. His passing is reminiscent of the league’s best, while his three-level scoring ability and penchant for drawing fouls are valuable traits in a potential lead guard.

Doncic is the most productive teenager in European history, bar none. He won the Euroleague MVP and Euroleague Final 4 MVP at age 19. Alongside Goran Dragic, he helped Slovenia win the Eurobasket championship last summer. Don’t overthink it.
