Once the top prospect in this class, Porter spent most of his freshman season sidelined due to a back injury. His stock will be heavily tied to individual workouts and medical evaluations.
The Magic lack a go-to scoring threat, something Porter would easily provide. He’s a springy, versatile athlete who, at 6-11, can create plenty of mismatches at either forward spot. He lost some explosiveness during his brief NCAA Tournament appearance, but that can be chalked up to rust more than anything else.
On the defensive end, Porter has the size and athleticism needed to become a valuable weapon. The effort hasn’t always been there on that side of the ball, but NBA coaching could help him unlock some of that two-way potential.
