What could a Sixers summer blockbuster trade look like?

The Philadelphia 76ers have a big offseason ahead of them, and could pull the trigger on a superstar trade… if the price is right.

After just falling short of an Eastern Conference Finals appearance last season, the Philadelphia 76ers are planning to gear up and make a big run at adding another superstar this offseason. Of course, big-name free agents like LeBron James and Paul George have long been rumored to Philly, but what about the trade market?

The Sixers have all of the assets needed to make a splash on the trade block and add talent that way, even with a new GM incoming. Young assets, top draft picks, you name it, Philly has it. The question is, what players are worth what?

Kawhi Leonard rumors have been circling this team since reports about his unhappiness in San Antonio surfaced last season. If Philly was to make a run at the All-Pro defender, it would certainly take a hefty deal.

A package of Markelle Fultz/Dario Saric, Robert Covington, and the 10th overall pick could possibly get a deal done, but would it be worth it for the Sixers?

Fultz may not have had the rookie season we all expected, but he’s been putting in work this offseason to fix his issues. Dario Saric should have been the 2017 Rookie of the Year, and has been a huge contributor on this team since coming over.

Parting with RoCo to get Kawhi feels much more natural, and the #10 pick would be an easy throw-in for such established talent. However, the question still remains if giving up on so much potential in the likes of Fultz and Saric is worth adding an injured Kawhi?

So what if the team looked in another direction?

The Trail Blazers had a disappointing first-round exit from the playoffs this season, and could be looking to shake things up moving forward. If they were to put 2016 Most Improved Player C.J. McCollum on the block, the Sixers could definitely make some magic happen there.

For a player like McCollum, Philly could likely send a much more reasonable package, potentially only needing to send the 10th pick and some bench talent to facilitate a deal. Of course, adding a third team never hurts.

While Leonard provides some great defense to this team, McCollum provides shooting and offensive firepower. DeMar DeRozan could do the same thing.

In a similar vein as the Blazers, it’s already been noted that the Raptors are ready to consider all options in the future of this team. If given the right deal, that could include sending away their All-Star shooting guard.

This deal would likely require some kind of middle-ground between the Leonard and McCollum options. The 10th pick would definitely be involved, but the Sixers could potentially configure a way to keep Fultz and Saric; although it would certainly take some strategic thinking.

However, there is one last option for the Sixers in the trade market.

If Philly were to fall in love with a top prospect (just as they did last season with Markelle), they could pull the trigger and move up in the draft.

While that sounds less likely this offseason, a package deal that involves the teams two first-round picks and some additional talent could lead to a deal with a team looking to trade down.

At the end of the day, the Sixers will be in a tough position when it comes to potential trades. The same question will consistently come up: is the sacrifice of young talent and potential like Markelle Fultz and Dario Saric worth the edition of established players like Kawhi Leonard?

We’ll have to wait and see.
