LOS ANGELES, CA – JANUARY 19: De’Anthony Melton #22 of the USC Trojans handles the ball against the Arizona Wildcats during NCAA Pac12 conference college basketball game at Galen Center on January 19, 2017 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Leon Bennett/Getty Images) /

Melton is one of the best perimeter defenders in the draft. His instincts are insane, while his measurables — 6-foot-3, 6-foot-9 wingspan — compare favorably to any comboguard on the board.

Despite sitting out his entire sophomore campaign due to the FBI investigation, Melton should receive serious first-round looks. He was one of the best performers at the combine last month and he showed more than enough during his freshman campaign.

Albeit limited as a ball handler, Melton can attack the rim on drives and make solid reads in the pick-and-roll. He was an iffy shooter during his one season at USC, but has showed off a much-improved stroke during pre-draft workouts. That’s a positive progression.
