Allen has reportedly been impressive in workouts, which isn’t too surprising. The four-year man out of Duke fared well in the combine’s athletic testing, while his perimeter shooting is an elite skill that NBA teams covet.
Running around screens and positioning himself off-ball, Allen projects as one of the best pure shooters in the draft. He can also put the ball on the floor and act as a secondary creator of sorts, running the pick-and-roll and showing legitimate point guard instincts.
Defense will be Allen’s biggest issue, as he lacks the quickness needed to hang with the league’s elite guards off the dribble. Shooters of his caliber almost always find ways to bring value, though.
