Final list
PG — Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz
SG — J.J. Redick, Landry Shamet
SF — Robert Covington, Zhaire Smith
PF — Dario Saric
C — Joel Embiid
On the chopping block…
Amir Johnson
An aging veteran on a minimum contract, the odds of Johnson being selected in an expansion draft are slim. He’s a smart defender and decent placeholder on offense, but he’s also replaceable in terms of production.
Mike Muscala
Another expiring contract, Muscala is only 27 and might be on an expansion team’s radar. He’s a 7-footer who can space the floor and defend in space, which has value in the modern NBA. He just doesn’t survive the possible roster crunch in this scenario.

T.J. McConnell
A heartbreaking exclusion, McConnell could be viewed as a backup point guard option for expansion teams. With that said, the Gritmaster has a more than decent chance of surviving an expansion draft.
Jonah Bolden
This was explained in the last slide, so there’s no need to dive deeper. Bolden is a young big who would probably get snatched up by an expansion team given his extremely team-friendly contract and long-term upside.
Jerryd Bayless
An aging veteran who isn’t great at NBA basketball and probably wouldn’t get picked by an expansion team.
Furkan Korkmaz
A former first-round pick, Korkmaz might get snatched up by an expansion team. He dropped 40 in a Summer League game and has upside as a 6-foot-8 wing who can shoot. The Turk simply hasn’t shown enough to warrant being saved at this point.
Wilson Chandler
On an expiring contract worth around $12 million, Chandler has a solid chance of surviving the expansion draft. He will play an important role off the bench next season, but simply isn’t worth one of the eight protected spots.
Shake Milton
The 54th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Milton was an absolute steal relative to where he was drafted. The Sixers aren’t using one of their eight protections on a second-round pick, though.
