Markelle Fultz: 75
Predicting Fultz’s ranking is impossible, but 75 seems like a safe place to start. The 2K folks can’t accurately predict where Fultz’s shot will stand next season. His struggles seemed to be as much mental as they were physical, while the historical precedent for players forgetting how to shoot is lacking.
The general public doesn’t know what to expect from Fultz. There have been countless accounts of improvement this summer, but we can’t make any bold proclamations without seeing him on the floor. As always, video game rankings are an imperfect science.
Even without a jumper, Fultz had some effective moments last season. In the final game of the regular season, he became the youngest player to ever record a triple-double. The talent that got him drafted first overall is still very much there.
Using herky-jerky dribble combinations, Fultz makes it difficult for defenders to stay in front of him. Despite posing absolutely no threat from deep last season, Fultz was able to weave his way to the rim and showcase his standout finishing ability.
Fultz also averaged 3.8 assists in 18.1 minutes per game. His passing acumen is highly advanced for a 20-year-old, and that will only become more dangerous as his scoring progresses.
I have high hopes for Fultz’s development next season. His initial 2K rating might not reflect that, though.
