Morant flew under the radar at Murray State last season, quietly putting together a strong freshman campaign. He averaged 12.3 points and 6.5 assists per game, leading his team to the NCAA Tournament in the process.

As one of the most athletic guards in college basketball, Morant is bound to catch the eye of NBA scouts. He’s capable of making explosive plays off the bounce, using a quick, explosive first step to beat collegiate defenders.

His three-point shot is still a work-in-progress, but there’s reason to believe he can improve. His volume of assists (6.5) to turnovers (2.3) is also a promising sign for a freshman guard who was asked to carry a sizable load. He will only get better next season.

An upper-tier athlete with advanced playmaking potential, Morant will tear things up at the mid-major level next season. Expect NBA folks to be paying attention.
