Bassey reclassified to the 2018 class and will play at Western Kentucky next season. He joins Mitchell Robinson as the second five-star center to commit to the Hilltoppers in as many years. Unlike Robinson, Bassey seems ready to suit up at the collegiate level.

At 6-foot-10, Bassey checks almost every box physically. He’s long, strong and should make an immediate impact as a rim-protector at the collegiate level. Question marks remain around his offensive skill set, though.

As of right now, Bassey relies mostly on strength and athleticism to score around the basket. Much like Fernando, he’ll thrive as a lob-catcher who can throw his size around underneath. He’s also an elite rebounder.

Until he improves his all-around skill level offensively, however, his stock is limited. In a league that preaches versatility, Bassey projects as more of a role player than a featured option at this point.
