Washington will have the chance to build on a strong freshman campaign as the Wildcats’ starting power forward. He made tremendous strides last season, coming on strong during Kentucky’s NCAA Tournament run.
At 6-foot-7, Washington is undersized compared to more traditional power forwards. His versatility, however, should pique the interest of NBA teams — he’s strong enough to battle larger opponents underneath and quick enough to switch onto the perimeter.
There are still warts in his offensive game, but Washington has improved vastly as a spot-up shooter. And although there’s still considerable room left to grow in that respect, his ability to face-up and attack in straight-lines is valuable in the frontcourt.
On paper, this is one of the best Kentucky teams in recent memory. Washington will play a big role in their success, potentially boosting his stock in the process.
