Former Philadelphia 76ers wing Nick Young recently had a run in with the law enforcement which led to his arrest in California.

It may feel like it’s been long since Nick Young was in uniform for the Philadelphia 76ers, but the fact of the matter is, it’s only been since the 2012-2013 season when Young played his last game for the Philadelphia basketball franchise. During one season with the Sixers, Young averaged 10.6 points and shot 35.7 percent from the 3-point line. While Young won an NBA Championship with the Golden State Warriors this past season, the former 76ers wing now faces legal problems.

According to ESPN, Young was recently arrested in Hollywood for not listening to officers and became irritated by the situation. This in turn delayed the officers investigation and the delay was the reason for the arrest.

Shortly after Young’s arrest, he was released on bond and has a a court date set for Sept. 19th, of this year. Luckily for Young, the charge is only a misdemeanor, so it shouldn’t cause any long term legal problems for him. However, this charge couldn’t have come at a worst time for the free agent perimeter player.

Young did play meaningful minutes for the Warriors during their championship run, however he averaged the second lowest minutes per game for his career and had tied his career low in points per game during his career as well. While he was still an effective offensive player in limited minutes, the 33-year-old isn’t getting any younger and legal problems plus his age aren’t going to make him attractive to very many, if any, teams as the new season draws near.

Hopefully, Young can move on from this incident and find a team to sign with. Recently, Co-Site Expert of The Sixer Sense Christopher Kline wrote about the possibility of the Philadelphia 76ers adding Young this offseason, if the team can offload Jerryd Bayless’ contract. With Zhaire Smith still recovering from his injury, I tend to agree with Kline in bringing Young back to Philly.
