27. Trey Burke, New York Knicks
Burke had a renaissance of sorts in New York last season, reviving his career on a tanking Knicks team. He goes into the 2018-19 season as the favorite for starting minutes, providing a nice scoring punch at the lead guard spot.
His role could shift if Frank Ntilikina develops into a full-time point guard, but the Frenchman is better off as the secondary ball-handler for now.
26. De’Aaron Fox, Sacramento Kings
Fox wasn’t great last season, but the flashes were there. He’s an elite athlete and speedster, pushing the tempo and making plays in transition. He also showed off the clutch gene, hitting a few game-winners during his rookie campaign.
If he can strengthen his frame, become a more consistent defender and continue to build on his mid-range jumper, Fox has the potential to move up a few spots on this list. The Kings will still give him plenty of minutes next season.
25. Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks have set their course for the future, emphasizing spacing and tempo as former Philadelphia 76ers coach Lloyd Pierce takes over. Trae Young is leading that charge, offering elite shooting range and advanced playmaking instincts.
He’ll take time to develop — especially on defense — but the Hawks will give him plenty of opportunity next season. He’s too smart and skilled not to make an impact at some point.
