How the Philadelphia 76ers’ sharpshooter stacks up against the best at his position.
The 2018-19 season is on the horizon, with under a month between now and the Philadelphia 76ers‘ first preseason game. Before then, we’re going to be undertaking a series of rankings here at TSS, starting with every player in the starting unit.
We’re going to take Ben Simmons, J.J. Redick, Robert Covington, Dario Saric and Joel Embiid, then stack them up against all 30 starters at their position. Where does each player stand, and how much room for improvement (or decline) is there?
We’re already gone through the point guards, which you can read here. You can check back for small forward, power forward and center over the next few days.
Redick was subtle but effective last season, averaging a career-high 17.1 points en route to becoming the Sixers’ second-leading scorer. His movement and shooting was an important part of Brett Brown’s system.
While not considered elite at his position, Redick is highly effective in an important role. He’s one of the best shooters in the league, giving him gravity that few players across the league can match. That won’t disappear next season.
Here’s how he stacks up other starting two-guards around the association.
