18. John Collins, Atlanta Hawks
Collins is primed for a big second season with the Hawks. He was too good for Summer League, making plays off the bounce and punishing defenders with his improved post game. He’s showing the kind of all-around growth that could launch him into the Most Improved Player conversation.
17. James Johnson, Miami Heat
Johnson brings a lot of positive traits to the table. He’s a versatile defender, capable of defending the interior or sticking with quicker guards on the perimeter. He’s equally as versatile on offense, providing some secondary playmaking next to Goran Dragic.
He’s quietly one of Miami’s most important pieces, producing in multiple facets on the court and providing emotional leadership in the locker room.
16. Derrick Favors, Utah Jazz
Favors signed a fresh contract this summer, setting him up as Utah’s starting power forward for the foreseeable future. Some have questioned that decision — his fit next to Rudy Gobert isn’t ideal — but Favors is a skilled interior scorer and capable defender.
