Philadelphia 76ers: Where Joel Embiid ranks among all starting centers
24. Tristan Thompson, Cleveland Cavaliers
Thompson fell off last season, but recouped some value in the Cavs’ failed Finals run. He’s still an offensive rebounding machine who can provide value as a lob threat and finisher on offense. His defense isn’t elite, but he can at least block the occasional shot and remain active on the glass.
23. Dewayne Dedmon, Atlanta Hawks
Dedmon is a highly underrated player on a small-market Hawks team. He helped hold together the Spurs’ defense a few years ago, and did the same in Atlanta last season. On top of that, he has added a reliable corner three-pointer, shooting 35.5 percent on 2.3 attempts per game from deep.
Last season was the first season in which Dedmon averaged over zero attempts per game from deep. Talk about evolving to stay relevant.
22. Jarrett Allen, Brooklyn Nets
Allen proved to be another promising young piece in the Nets’ asset trove, putting together a strong rookie campaign that eventually led to him joining the starting five. His shot blocking upside and lob catching prowess will keep him relevant for years to come.
Moving forward, it’s important for Allen to continue polishing his defensive instincts and working on his jumper, something he alluded to this summer.
