1. Sun., Feb. 10 vs. Los Angeles Lakers — Lonzo & LeBron
Lonzo Ball, LeBron James — need we say more?
Boos come out of Sixers fans so fast at the mere thought of these two.
Lonzo Ball was Enemy No. 1 last season. Every time he touched the ball when the Lakers came to town he was greeted by loud boos.
Now, as been pointed out many times, the object of this negativity is not personally directed at Lonzo but more at his loud-mouthed father, LaVar Ball.
While Joel Embiid makes it point he has nothing against Lonzo, he has a good feud going with Daddy Ball.
And do fans even really need a Sixers-based reason to boo Ball? Just all his dad’s braggadocio, taunting, acting like a jerk at games and general ‘look at me?’ attitude is enough to get any sports fan’s dander up.
As for LeBron, like Ball there are just so many reasons to boo him. There is the Warrior-like success to be jealous of, having won the Eastern Conference the past seven years. He also, like Bjelica, rejected the Sixers this offseason, although he never officially committed to them and at least said nice things about the 76ers afterward.
Hey, if he was going to reject Philly for L.A. at least he could have done it in person and not just send his agent.
Oh, and if you hated the movie ‘Trainwreck’, you have even more incentive.
The Lakers are also, next to the Celtics, the most despised franchise in Philadelphia. Since 1980, the Lakers have beaten the 76ers three times in the NBA finals. With their Showtime and superstars, all those championships won and celebrities attending their games, what is not to hate?
One thing is for sure, when the Lakers take the court on February 10, one sound will be heard throughout the arena:
Boooo!!!!
