More from The Sixer Sense

As the team’s best player, Joel Embiid should be starting every game possible this season. Embiid has put some lofty expectations coming into his third season after having a stellar second season. In case of injury to Embiid, I have written in the past that Amir Johnson should take his starting spot, but did state that Johnson shouldn’t be his primary backup.

Primary reserve

The role of primary reserve for Embiid should fall to Mike Muscala. Muscala is a modern stretch big that has been a solid reserve throughout his career. While Muscala isn’t the defensive presence that Johnson is, he’s a much better offensive player. The Sixers need offensive options in the second unit and Muscala fits the bill as an offensive big.

Rest of depth

Still expect Johnson to get some playing time based on matchup, he’d probably be third and Bolden would be fourth on the center depth chart. Emeka Okafor and Norvel Pelle will probably not make the team, but if they did, they be last on the depth chart.

The Philadelphia 76ers are somewhat thin at each forward position, but overall have solid depth. The Sixers can fill the needs at forward easily, especially once Smith recovers from his injury.
