Washington Wizards

2017-18 record: 43-39

2017-18 season series: 2-2

2018-19 advantage: Sixers

The Wizards added Dwight Howard to one of the league’s most volatile locker rooms, which should be entertaining. On the court, though, the fit makes sense. He’s an athletic rim runner, something John Wall has lacked in recent seasons.

Bradley Beal and Otto Porter are criminally underrated. Beal might be the Wizards’ best player after his growth last season. Porter’s efficiency is elite, meaning Scott Brooks should work to get him more looks within the offense.

Talent-wise, the Wizards stack up with the Sixers to some extent. It’s the execution that has been lacking over the past few years, though, and there’s no sign of dramatic improvement in that department.

The Sixers are better defensively and get more from their talent on offense. Expect Washington to soundly make the playoffs, but don’t expect any serious challenge to Philadelphia’s title hopes.
