How many Philadelphia 76ers crack our award predictions for the 2018-19 season?

The Philadelphia 76ers were featured heavily in the 2017-18 award voting, with Ben Simmons (Rookie of the Year), Joel Embiid (Defensive Player of the Year runner-up) and Robert Covington (First Team All-Defense) earning recognition.

Now coming off a 52-win season, expectations for the team and the players are much higher. Some expect Finals contention. Others, including the players, expect serious award consideration. Embiid put himself in the MVP debate.

As a whole, the NBA is entering a very exciting season. LeBron James is a Laker, Kawhi Leonard is a Raptor, and there’s a new energy surrounding the league. Golden State remains the heavy title favorite, but there’s a sense of uncertainty with all the moving parts.

Where the Sixers fit into the picture is unknown, but this projects to be one of the most successful Philadelphia teams in recent memory. Embiid will be looking to add another All-Star appearance to his resume, while Simmons is gunning for his first.

Ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, our staff took the time to drop predictions for every major award category, ranging from MVP to the All-Rookie teams. Here’s how things turned out.
