3. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks
Mike Budenholzer has revolutionized the Bucks’ offense, leading them to a 7-1 record and putting Giannis Antetokounmpo in a position to succeed. With an array of three-point shooters around him, the Greek Freak finally has workable space around him — something the Bucks of old lacked.
In seven games, Antetokounmpo is averaging 26.1 points, 13.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game, as well as 1.0 steal and 1.4 blocks. He’s terrorizing both ends, providing endless versatility on defense and attacking with force on offense.
The Bucks might end the season as a top-three team in the Eastern Conference, giving Antetokounmpo the benefit of elite production and exceeded expectations. After spending years in the middle, the Bucks (and Giannis) are finally ready to make a leap to contender status.
Despite the questionable jumper, Giannis’ scoring should only increase as the season progresses. He’s virtually unstoppable en route to the basket, using his length, footwork and strength to overwhelm almost any defender.
That, combined with elite rebounding and ample defensive impact, will keep the Freak toward the top of this list.
